Golden Hour Love in the Black Hills | Engagement Session

There’s something magical about love in the mountains — and this Black Hills engagement session was nothing short of that. From the very first click of the shutter, I knew this couple’s connection was something special. The way they looked at each other, laughed together, and held hands as they hiked—it was contagious. You couldn’t help but smile just being around them.

We timed the session just right to catch golden hour at the top of one of my favorite hidden spots in the hills. As the sun dipped low, it spilled the softest golden light across the landscape, turning everything it touched into a warm, glowing dream. The hills, the sky, and the love between these two all came together to create the most beautiful, natural backdrop.

Over the past five years of living and photographing here in the Black Hills of South Dakota, I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many incredible couples and families. And these two? Definitely one of those unforgettable pairs. They brought so much joy, laughter, and love — and even included their sweet fur babies, which always makes my heart happy.

What made this session even more special was their adventurous spirit. Being an outdoor photographer means my clients need to be up for a little trek here and there, and these two were absolute troopers. They hiked with smiles on their faces, fully trusting the vision — and it paid off in the most stunning way.
